Creating a Facebook event does not guarantee the success of your sale

Facebook is not your best ally when it comes to promoting your sale. Creating an event page is not a bad choice in itself, but it won’t be enough to ensure traffic to your sale.

HERE’S WHY.

First, because Facebook’s organic reach is in constant decline. According to a Hootsuite and We are Social report, the reach was at only 7.7% in 2018. Not that much, we agree.

But there is worst…

In July 2023, the Facebook organic reach was at 2.58%, and is now at 1,52% in 2024.

This tells us that less and less people will see your event.

Here is an example. If you have 5,000 followers on your page, about 76 people will actually see your posts.

Very disapointing!

Next, we must considerate the engagement rate, which is the number of interactions (likes, comments, shares) generated by content relative to its reach, the number of followers, and the size of the audience reached.

According to the Hootsuite and We are Social report, the average engagement rate for an organic post was 0.08% for pages with less than 100,000 followers at the end of 2020.

In 2024, it’s aroung 0.06%. On your page with 5,000 followers, we’re talking about an average of 3 interactions per post. Unfortunately, these statistics are expected to decline in the coming years.

If you create an event for your sale this year, very few consumers will be exposed to it.

Not to mention that the consumers reached may not be the ones interested in coming at your sale.
